Set in the heart of Mayfair in central London, 9 Hertford Street is the perfect base to explore London’s royal heritage. From palaces to royal gardens and places of worship and ceremony just a short distance away, this guide will help you plan your royal London tour.

Buckingham Palace

Located just half a km away, Buckingham Palace is a fabulous place to experience royal London. Home to the iconic balcony which has witnessed many historic occasions, the palace also plays host to state occasions and is the administrative centre for the King. During the summer months, the State Rooms and gardens are open for tours.

Royal Mews

The Royal Mews is the home to the Royal Family’s transport including horses, carriages and cars. The highlight of the collection is the Gold State Coach which dates from 1762 and is still in use. It’s open all year round.

Kensington Palace

Kensington Palace and Gardens is a beautiful attraction, just a short walk from Hertford Street. Home to members of the Royal Family since the 1600s, highlights of the estate include the King’s State Apartments, Princess Victoria’s Bedroom, the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection, the Sunken Garden and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground. The latter is currently being refurbished but is scheduled to reopen later this summer.

Westminster Abbey

This beautiful building has been the setting for 40 coronations, 16 royal weddings and is the burial site for 18 British monarchs. Notable figures including Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Dickens, George Frederic Handel and Laurence Olivier are buried here.

Tower of London

The Tower of London, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded in 1066 and has been used as an armoury, a menagerie and home of the Royal Mint. Highlights include the Crown Jewels, the famous ravens, and the Ceremony of the Keys.
