In its 149th year, the Wimbledon Championships will begin on Monday (29 June) and run until 12 July. Here’s our guide to how you can enjoy the world’s oldest tennis tournament in Mayfair.
Free screenings in Hanover Square
Coined W1mbledon, Hanover Square in Mayfair’s W1 will host pop-up screenings of the tournament. Relax in a deckchair and watch matches on the big screen whilst enjoying premium refreshments from Market Hall’s bar and traditional strawberries and cream from the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair’s cart. If you’re itching to partake in the sport yourself, swing ball and table tennis will be available to play.
Wimbledon inspired afternoon tea
Enjoy a Wimbledon Afternoon Tea at The Wellington Lounge on Park Lane. From £85 per person (£32 for children up to 11), the menu includes savoury sandwiches, scones served with strawberry & vanilla jam and clotted cream, and some fabulously inventive cakes, including British Strawberries & Cream Hat, Gooseberries & Elderflower Délice, and Calamansi & Raspberry Tennis Ball.
