Tate Modern’s fascinating new exhibition, Hilma af Klint & Piet Mondrian: Forms of Life, explores the works of abstract artists Hilma af Klint and Piet Mondrian.
With a shared passion for vibrancy and abstract interpretations of nature, their works naturally compliment one other and it’s fascinating to consider that, whilst contemporaries of each other, their paths never crossed.
Whilst the world outside the gallery is emerging into spring, this exhibition acts as a perfect continuation with the use of beautifully bold colours and shapes, inspired by nature.
In their press release, Tate Modern explains: “[this exhibition] is the largest presentation of Hilma af Klint’s work in the UK to date…Forms of Life is the first major UK exhibition in over 25 years to highlight Piet Mondrian’s early work alongside the iconic grid compositions for which he is best known… this exhibition reveals how both artists shifted between the abstract and the representational…the exhibition will explore the powerful affinity with nature.”
This major joint retrospective is celebrated by the Evening Standard as “a fascinating, ambitious and memorable show”.
Running until 3 September, we think it’s the perfect opportunity to explore the work of two incredibly captivating artists.
