Have you ever wondered who finds out about the fab events, and writes with much passion and enthusiasm, for our magazines? Meet one of our co-writers, Toby!

Toby has been part of our 9 Hertford Street family for the past four years. He adores theatre, music and writing. Of course, we had to ask him what he’s enjoyed, and looking forward to, in London this year:

“I went to London’s newest theatre, Soho Place, in January. It’s an incredible place, and the show I saw, a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s As You Like It was simply magical. The seating surrounds the stage and you’re never more than six rows from the action, you really feel immersed.

For Veganuary I was lucky enough to pop in to our friends at Colonel Saab, and enjoyed a delicious three course meal. Should you wish to experience some traditional Indian cuisine during your stay at 9 Hertford Street, I don’t think there’s anywhere finer.

I’ve also started exploring areas of London on foot in recent weeks, including Westminster and north of the river, where I’ve spotted buildings such as the Hall of the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers and the London offices of magazine publishers D.C. Thompson.

And as for the rest of the year? I’m greatly looking forward to seeing A Streetcar Named Desire in April, starring Oscar nominee Paul Mascal. I also hope to see some exhibitions, such as Re:Imagining Musicals at the V&A, After Impressionism: Inventing Modern Art at the National Gallery, and of course the annual Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy. But my first love is musicals, and I’m counting down the days until West End LIVE in June, a free event in Trafalgar Square, where the great and the good of London theatre perform excerpts from their currently running shows!”

Thank you Toby, for all that you do, and for your infectious cheerfulness!
