About
The London Marathon, which was established in 1981, is one of the most popular races in the world with almost 54,000 runners in 2024.
The scenic route starts in historic Blackheath. It takes you past the Cutty Sark in Greenwich, through Southwark, over Tower Bridge then loops around London passing the Shard, Canary Wharf and the London Eye. On the home stretch, it passes Big Ben and Westminster, Buckingham Palace then finishes on The Mall – just a short distance from 9 Hertford Street.
In 2025 it will be held on Sunday 27 April.
