London’s Open House Festival will be running 14 – 22 September; the programme is available to view online and tickets went on sale today.
About
Originally called Open House London, London’s Open House Festival began in 1992 and was to become a yearly celebration of urban architecture and landscape. Starting as a weekend event which has evolved into two as more and more buildings become involved, it’s a unique opportunity to see inside some of the city’s most remarkable buildings.
It’s hosted by Open City, which is “an educational charity empowering communities to learn about, experience and have a role in shaping places where they live.”
Festivals of this kind are now held in 60 cities across the world.
Open House 2024
This year’s festival promises 700 open days across all 33 London boroughs. In Westminster, there will be 84 events including open buildings, walking tours and workshops. Highlights include the Royal Courts of Justice, BBC Broadcasting House and 10 Downing Street. Further afield, there’s Central Gurdwara (Khalsa Jatha) London, Trellick House, Goodwins Court and The Caledonian Club, to name but a few.
Tickets
Tickets were released for booking today. There is also a ballot, running until midday on Wednesday 28 August, for the most popular buildings in the programme.
