Mayfair’s celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee: 2 – 3 June 2022

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations will be in full swing from this Thursday when a dedicated concert will be held at the Tower of London. The celebrations continue through May and will culminate with an exciting programme of events occurring during the official Platinum Jubilee weekend of 2 – 3 June, which is when our locality will be marking Her Majesty’s reign. Our two-day event is sure to be full of fun, nostalgia, community and historic pride – after all, Queen Elizabeth II is a Mayfair girl (she was born at 17 Bruton Street)!

The Mayfair celebrations will run along North Audley Street, between Grosvenor Square and Oxford Street, and will be pedestrianised for the weekend. The theme will be ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite’, drawing inspiration from traditional fetes and Mary Poppins; it’s sure to be incredibly nostalgic. The hub of our celebrations will be the 200-foot long banqueting table, which will be curated by sisters Jemima and Alice Herbert of luxury table design company, Lay London. Their vision is to create a riot of colour, reaching the length of the table, using wildflowers and herbs which can be found in the royal gardens. Our local purveyors of food and drink will be offering a delicious selection of foods and drinks to enjoy, and entertainment will include family-friendly crafts, music and strolling acts. Watch fashion illustrator Anjelica Roselyn create 70 special images to commemorate each year of Her Majesty’s reign. You will also have the opportunity to commission Anjelica to create a unique piece of art for you. How wonderful!

Organisers have promised us the most breath-taking welcome; you will enter the street party through a spectacular floral arch, to then be met with festoons of lights and bunting. We cannot wait for this very special occasion and to spend precious time with our families, friends, neighbours and guests. Thank you so much to the team of organisers who have worked painstakingly to create something so special for us all to enjoy.
