Milton Avery at the Royal Academy (until 16 October)

Just another month to catch the retrospective of North American colourist Milton Avery at the Royal Academy, which is just a short walk from Hertford Street.

Working from the 1930s – 1960s, Avery is admired for his unique style, use of colour and simple subject matters, all of which were to influence the next generation of artists.

Whilst you’re there, you may also be interested in seeing the Making of an Artist: The Great Tradition display, which explores Sir Joshua Reynolds’ notion that art from the past was an important source of inspiration.
