We are delighted to share with you the details of a fantastic new restaurant and members’ lounge which has opened at 48 St James’s Street.
Just a ten-minute walk from Hertford Street, Mistress of Mayfair is Parisian-inspired, decorated in red hues with sumptuous velvet and leather furnishings and with muted lighting to complete the decadent ambience.
It offers the finest French cuisine with a modern twist; signature dishes include Seabass Dugléré served with tomato, butter, dill and samphire; seared diver scallops served with Jerusalem artichoke, chicken jus, smoked chicken skin and pomelo; grilled poussin served with lemon pepper jus and Mistress chips; and Sole Meunière with butter, lemon, and capers.
Lighter dishes are also available, including oysters served ‘classique’ (Mignonette, Tabasco, and lemon) or ‘nouveau’ (Champagne granita and pickled apple), as well as Sturia Oscietra caviar, steak tartare, and the most incredible lobster roll in brioche served with lemon truffle hollandaise.
There is an extensive selection of wines, and classic or signature cocktails for you to choose to accompany your meal.
Resident and guest DJs provide a perfect mix of soul, funk and disco music each evening.
And what about the intriguing name? There are historic tunnels which run beneath the streets of St James’s which were used to smuggle ladies of the night to the neighbouring, male-only, White’s private club. To quote Mistress of Mayfair, “Now the Mistress returns, with a palace all of her own.”
The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 7.30pm. Only members are permitted to enter from 11pm.
