Set in the grounds of beautiful Holland Park, the annual season from Opera Holland Park offers a wonderful programme of operas. This is a fabulous chance to experience established and new opera including the classics Carmen, HMS Pinafore, Serse and Peter and the Wolf, the UK premiere of Mark Adamo’s adaptation of Little Women and a new production of Sir John in Love.
Younger appreciators of music will particularly enjoy Carmen Live!, which includes a screening, live performances and a singing workshop, the OPERAunity family workshops and, of course, Prokofiev’s fabulous introduction to the orchestra, Peter and the Wolf.
There are also performances from The Royal Ballet School from 6 until 9 July, and each Friday (until 29 July), there are free recitals from this season’s principal singers to enjoy on the steps of the theatre.
Sunday in the Park completes the programme with curated conversations with Anne Reid & Sir Derek Jacobi on 26 June, and Sir Ranulph Fiennes on 24 July.
Opera Holland Park is a fabulous support for new and emerging talent, and ensures that opera is accessible to all. Throughout the year, they work with schools, organisations and community groups, and run events ranging from singing lessons to lunchtime recitals.
