This summer, the beautiful, historic Royal Victoria Dock will be hosting the Royal Docks Summer Splash.
From 31 July until 20 August, there will be a family-friendly lido, sandpits, deckchairs and a fantastic variety of activities, all of which can be enjoyed for free. It’s perfect for warmer days when you just yearn to have an outside swim.
Summer Splash is part of the Royal Docks’ At the Docks 2023 summer programme of events, celebrating arts and culture.
Victoria Dock is the largest of three Royal Docks in east London. It was built in 1850 to accommodate large steam ships, and by 1860, it was receiving a staggering 850,000 tons of shipping a year. The cranes on the north and south sides of the dock have been retained (they are Grade II listed) and are a nod to the area’s heritage.
