This year, Tate Britain has commissioned an absolutely outstanding installation which runs through the Duveen Galleries and will be on show until 22 January 2023.
Hew Locke’s The Procession, which is his most ambitious piece to date, explores travel through places, time and culture. Using 150 handmade figures, representing all ages, it considers different means of procession – whether forced, voluntary, pilgrimage or ceremonial, and the emotions evoked. The procession is lead by a model of Henry Tate, the sugar magnate who founded the Tate.
You cannot fail to be awed by the enormity and power of the work, it’s truly breathtaking. Do take a look if you’re in the Millbank area.
